DYNO-MAX 2000 Version 9.1
Land & Sea’s DYNO-MAX 2000 Version 9.1 is available! This is the latest version of the powerful DYNO-MAX software, now the ultimate dynamometer data collection and analysis software. Its unique, user friendly 32-bit interface and depth of features makes this the best dynamometer control package available. DYNO-MAX 2000 puts a full dyno console on your PC or laptop screen. Highlights include user configurable analog and digital gauges (even create your own multiple gauge needles),
real-time trace display and graphing, formula driven, EGT bar graphs, adjustable limits and voice alarms, color graphing, graph zooming and clipping, inertia compensation, “Smart RecordTM”, adjustable data dampening, playback data averaging, Standard, SAE, DIN, JIS, ECE, etc atmospheric correction (with friction compensation), data import/export (“Pro”) only, semi-automatic torque zeroing, instant playback, multi-run overlapping, simulated Road Load (under optional servo control), single-click printing, and much more.
Its ability to save “Test Cell Configurations” (as Environments) makes it easy to swap between completely different types of testing without losing your customization. Go from a blown big-block engine dynamometer test to a tiny 2-cycle chassis dyno run without resetting a single gauge or test parameter!
The “Pro” version adds features like a powerful Formula Editor. Formulas allow you to create your own data fields. If you want to chart something such as Brake Mean Effective Pressure, or calculate peak piston acceleration, it’s as easy as typing in the equation. With the “Pro” version you can even customize your report layout (right down to your company’s logo).
Canned custom tests, automated wizards, and a customization editor allow creating virtually any type of computer controlled test in minutes. Including many aimed at road course simulation and chassis dynamometer testing. Call for a free working Demo CD.
New Optical RPM Pickup!
When testing many different model vehicles on chassis dynos, there is a real need for a quick and universal Engine RPM source. Previously your only options were to read the signal from the vehicle’s tachometer source or utilize an inductive pick-up on a sparkplug lead pick-up. While both of these methods have been used to get RPM data for years, modern ignition systems do not always reliably provide one of these sources.

Now there is a third, plug-in compatible, option — our infrared Optical RPM Pickup. It includes an infrared sensor, integrated 12-volt amplifier module, universal magnetic mounting base, and a harness that plugs directly into your DYNOmite Dynamometer Data Acquisition harness.
The sensor works by monitoring the light reflected off a piece of special reflective coated tape (included) that you attach to your rotating dampener, shaft, or tire. Since the pre-amplifier section of the sensor is light based, it has a higher immunity to inductive RFI type noise. That is a big advantage when working near today’s high energy ignition systems (applications where inductive pickups fail). The sensor is also ideal for sealed ignitions and diesel applications as well as for monitoring tire to chassis dynamometer roller slippage.
DYNOmite Universal Knock Sensor Module!
DYNO-MAX 2000 “Pro” Version 9 supports the DYNOmite Universal Knock Sensor for converting the acoustical rattle of damaging engine knock into a signal that can be monitored via its Knock Index % Formulas. DYNO-MAX 2000 “Pro’s” ability to accept exponential, torque, and RPM compensating formulas with complex conditional alarms offers incredible versatility in utilizing the sensor’s data.
The affordable sensor utilizes a ¼” NPT mount that easily adapts to many engine locations. The module has an adjustable sensitivity knob and provides a 0-5 volt output signal (ready to plug into your available DYNOmite Data Acquisition Computer’s channel).
The Universal Knock Sensor Module is designed to be used by experienced engine builders to help them identify detonation signs during testing. It is even possible to modify DYNO-MAX 2000 “Pro’s” Knock % Formula to more closely track a particular engine’s knocking “signature.” Besides teaching you more about the knock characteristics of various combinations of fuel, combustion chambers, and spark advance, its advanced notice might just save you a costly engine fatality!

DYNOmite “Pro” 28-Channel Data Acquisition Board Sets...
expand Land & Sea’s Data Acquisition Computer line. Offering 28 input channels (with an internal data sampling rate of 1,000 Hz), multiple D/A, Relay, and Servo/Stepper Motor Control outputs, this is the most powerful DYNOmite Board Set ever. (A full comparison chart is available on our web site or from our support team).
Torque input support includes 16-bit milli-volt strain gauges (¼, ½, and full bridge) or 0-5 volt load cells, and direct digital SPI connection to DYNOmite “Piggy Back” Rotary Transducer Interfaces Boards! Hardware offset of torque data is done via software, eliminating all mechanical potentiometer adjustments.
All four frequency input channels (for RPM and/or flow data) are 18-bit and utilize software selectable pulse counts and trigger voltages for maximum flexibility. Other frequency (channel specific) features include 200+ volt (ignition needle) front end, integral battery charging (from alternator based tachometer sources), toothed wheel count divider, hall-effect pull-up resistors, etc.
Eight 16-bit 0-5 volt inputs are available (for almost any purpose) along with three 8-bit ones (especially useful for feedback position indicators). Up to 8 EGT (or other milli-volt sensors) are supported (per board set). Thermocouple channels can be re-assigned as extra 0-5 volt channels or factory configured for faster transient response. Other miscellaneous inputs include a pair of 10-bit thermistor channels (e.g. air and water temperature) and supply (engine battery) voltage.
These units require very little power to operate and will run off a 10-16 volt AC or DC supplies or even from on-board nickel metal hydride (or alkaline) batteries (for portable operation)!
DYNOmite “Pro” Board Sets require DYNO-MAX 2000 (standard, “Pro” or “Pro+”) Version 9.1 (or later) on your PC, along with appropriate interface cables and sensors. For more capacity, multiple board sets can be run in parallel (even your existing boards can be run alongside the new “Pro” sets). Any firmware upgrades of the unit’s integral Flash EEPROM can be done via DYNO-MAX’s 115.2k baud RS-232 support.
Owners of earlier versions of DYNOmite Data Acquisition computers and boards are eligible to trade up to the “Pro” board sets at reduced prices. Call or e-mail sales@land-and-sea.com for details.

Nor-Tech High Performance Boats
Located in Cape Coral, FL, Nor-Tech High Performance Boats specializes in custom offshore boats and engines. Along with manufacturing the Nor-Tec line of high performance boats, they also develop their own 625-1200 horsepower blower motors —in house. To optimize their engine development program, they incorporated a DYNOmite Pro 1600 engine dynamometer.
“Not only are we able to maximize engine power and durability, we can also put the engine through a break-in cycle and defect detection process. This now saves us having to remove the engine from the boat for what formerly might have been required for even the simplest undetected problem,” says Ron Potter, head of engine development. “We are especially pleased with the service Land & Sea, has offered. Whenever I have a question, I can call and talk to the same knowledgeable person, who I bought the dynamometer from. This means a lot to us.”
Nor-Tec has also just upgraded their system with the DYNO-MAX 2000 “Pro” software, to take their testing a step further. You can visit them at www.nor-techboats.com

Update your dyno rolls?
Can’t afford to replace your older chassis dynamometer with one of these new large roller 1,200 Hp systems? Well maybe your old clunker still has room for improvement... such as a new absorber or high traction finish on the rolls.
Unlike dyno “assemblers” we actually manufacture our huge rolls in-house. So we have the machinery to repair, turn, and correctly knurl your old rolls to better than new functionality. (In days, not months)!
Likewise, we can fabricate custom size rolls from scratch. Finished units receive special straight deep grooves, that won’t damage tires like diamond knurl patterns or sharp edge grooves can. All rollers are dynamically balanced for smooth running at higher speeds.
