Land & Sea’s Hydro-Flow nose cones increase boat speed and improve handling. Models are available with patented integral, “zero drag” pitot tube speedometer pick-ups.

“Die-cast... for that famous tight glove fit!”

Die-Cast thin walls allow tighter, narrower cross sections. This streamlined design means less drag and higher top speed than older, “fat” sand-cast nose cones.

Machined fit - Each Hydro-Flow II is CNC machined from a die-casting. That is why we have so many model nose cones to choose from. Unlike “universal” sand cast fits, these go on and actually fit your gearcase!

Patented Integral Pitot Tube is mounted in the tip of the cone. This virtually drag-free location gives the cleanest speedometer readings possible. Many customers purchase Land & Sea Hydro-Flow It's for this reason alone!

Epoxy included - Underwater Repair Compound epoxy kit comes with each nose cone for same day, do-it yourself installation (no need to package and truck ship your gearcase)! Hydro-Flow kits include all necessary plumbing, epoxy, templates and instructions.

Same day shipment of most boating products (phone (603) 226-DYNO now for delivery tomorrow)!

DO YOU NEED A NOSE CONE?

The cone is an aluminum casting which is easily molded onto the front of your stock lower unit (with included epoxy). Its hydrodynamic shape increases the aspect ratio and “softens” the impact angle of the gearcase’s “bullet.” This helps prevent vacuum packets from building along the case at high speed. Vacuum pockets cause gearcase cavitation erosion (“burn”), steering torque, and even gearcase “blowout.” Added gearcase length also gives pockets which might form, more time to collapse. This further increases terminal velocity (as with an exhaust extension ring).

Note: Fully surfacing a gearcase can greatly increase its speed before blowout (since it’s not dragging through the water). The above chart works for substantially submerged gearcases only. There are also other possible causes of blowout.

The primary reason for installing a nose cone is to prevent blowout (you can get most stock gearcases well over 100 MPH with the correct combination of nose cone, extension ring, blade type, and set up). In some cases, even on boats below blowout speed, the added tail or bow lift the cone imparts will also improve the boat’s top speed and handling. Experimentation is the only way to find out for sure. Lastly, the nose cone is the most effective and lowest drag spot to pick up solid speedometer pitot tube readings.

SETTING THE NOSE CONE RECORD STRAIGHT

1) Only the Hydro-Flow II’s reduce drag has a built-in speedometer pitot tube right at the tip of the cone! Its CAST-IN, to improve flow without reducing boat speed. Plus, the Hydro-Flow II’s design has been tested at over 130 MPH!

2) Only Hydro-Flow II cones are die cast using the latest C02 permanent mold shell core techniques. While our competitors boast their cones have thin walls, when we actually measured a few (at identical points) we found every one of the competitor’s cones was at least 100% thicker than the Hydro-Flow II! Thick walls mean fatter cross sections!

3) The snug, self aligning fit of the thin wall Hydro-Flow II makes it unnecessary to weld your gearcase (voiding its warranty)! Our kits include a computer designed blending template. A template is an absolute necessity for proper shape of the transition between the nose cone and gearcase. The Hydro-Flow II installs so easily that you can do the job in your own garage, saving hundreds of dollars and shipping hassles!

4) Don’t get taken in by exaggerated speed claims that seem to go hand in hand with nose cone ads. For the record, we have been manufacturing nose cones since 1971, longer than any other manufacturer; we know what works! CHECK ONE OUT AT OUR RISK. WE’LL BUY IT BACK (within 30 days), EVEN IF IT’S “USED & ABUSED”!
