How
is it used? Mount the DYNOmite absorber (and
appropriate pump adapter) in place of the boat’s standard nozzle and cone. Each
adapter incorporates a shaft, driven by the impeller (without impeller removal).
A load control valve (fed from your ¾" garden hose) lets you regulate RPM by
varying absorber drag (while holding the throttle open). You can simulate
running at any MPH from idle to top end. The DYNOmite’s computer calculates and
displays power with the standard formula:
DYNOmite Data Acquisition Electronics eliminate paper and pencil data logging. The DYNOmite computer records true Hp, torque, RPM, elapsed time, etc. (at up to 1,000 readings per second) while automatically applying SAE correction factors for the air’s temperature, barometric pressure, and relative humidity. Results display on the DYNOmite’s LCD and can be printed to an optional portable ASCII printer. Integral torque transducer uses precision temperature compensated strain gauges to directly measure engine torque. Pushbutton, semi-automatic offset for the zero calibration point is also standard. Reads true impeller shaft Hp – beats trying to estimate the engine’s power and performance from inconsistent tank pull “thrust” tests or pump nozzle pressure readings.
Precision designed and manufactured for strength, accuracy, and reliability. Each water absorption brake, torque arm, load-valve control, pump housing adapter assembly, braided hose assembly fitting, etc. is beautifully CNC machined from anodized aircraft aluminum billet and heat-treated stainless steel. Even the fasteners are stainless, for maximum corrosion resistance in a marine environment.
Everything gets tested, right in the hull, the way you run it! Evaluate air box flow, throttle adjustment, fuel delivery system, exhaust routing, motor mount vibration problems, pump alignment… EVERYTHING. Develop quicker watercrafts by pinpointing exact RPM locations of horsepower loss or gain. See just which components work, what tuning changes help, how modifications effect durability, etc. Even map out the optimum “variable water flow” exhaust set-up for each RPM point.
Profitably troubleshoot off the water and avoid wasting valuable time trailering around to test. Why run up non-billable hours separating owner’s imagined power losses from real ones? Even customers who normally whine over charges for lake testing willingly pay extra for dyno time (when it includes a printout). Dealers find that just displaying the DYNOmite enhances the shop’s image (and supports higher labor rates too)! Easy test set-ups by mechanics with no dyno or computer experience. Simply replace the pump’s nozzle and cone with an appropriate pump adapter assembly, bolt the DYNOmite to the adapter, hook up a few wires and hoses, and test. You can run it outside without an expensive dyno cell ventilation system. Eliminates the hassle of getting the boat into the test tank or to the ramp. Automated load control using the optional Electronic Servo Load Valve (to replace the standard manual load control). Just push the buttons to change the test RPM, or select a sweep rate, and let the computer handle the rest of the work.
